Biography:
McGrath is in his seventh season as general manager of the North Adams SteepleCats. Prior to becoming general manager of the SteepleCats, McGrath played two seasons for the Danbury Westerners, and was an assistant coach for the SteepleCats during their inaugural season in 2002. McGrath’s coaching resume also includes seven years as an assistant coach at Williams College, where he served as the infield and hitting coach.
Prior to coaching at Williams, McGrath played three years of professional baseball in the New York Mets minor league system. With the Mets, though primarily a shortstop, McGrath played seven positions. He was also a part of the record-breaking 1998 Capital City Bombers (Columbia, S.C) championship team.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Business Administration, McGrath was a three-year letter winner in baseball. A graduate of Drury High School in North Adams, McGrath was a batboy and a player for his father Tom McGrath. Tom McGrath was the ABCA Coach of the Year in 1990 and amassed a career record of 439-213-1 at Drury High School. Sean McGrath is a native of North Adams and currently works as the Director of Planned Giving at Bennington College. He resides in North Adams with his wife Kristine, and daughters Kayla and Megan.
