Biography:
Harrison Slutsky looks to make an impact in North Adams this summer like he did last summer pitching in the Valley Baseball League.
In the summer of 2009, Slutsky pitched for the Staunton (Va.) Braves. Slutsky emerged as a dependable arm for the Braves and compiled a 3-3 record with a 2.70 ERA. He made a team-high 17 appearances including one start where he tossed eight scoreless innings in an 8-0 Braves win.
As a freshman in 2009, Slutsky led the Columbia University Lions in appearances with 15. He also started two games and went 2-2 overall with a 6.57 ERA. That year he struck out 17 batters in 24 2/3 innings and held opponents to a .265 batting average.
Slutsky was a two-sport athlete in high school at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass. He earned three letters in basketball and baseball each. His senior year he was named MVP of the basketball team and went 5-0 with a 1.19 ERA and 46 strikeouts on the mound for the baseball team. He captained both teams his senior year.
