Joining his teammate Adrian English in the Berkshires this summer is fellow Barry University player Sheehan Planas-Arteaga, who will compete for the starting spot at first base in an infield full of talented players.

Sheehan has already made an impact as a freshman for the Buccaneers.  A hitter with excellent plate discipline, Planas-Arteaga has gotten the most of his work at first base and in the designated hitting spot this year. He has started in 28 games and is batting .319 with 30 hits in 94 at-bats. He has drilled four doubles, a triple and one home run while driving in 15 runs.

Planas-Arteaga attended Belen Jesuit Prep High School and graduated in 2011. He played for the Wolverines and lettered three years under Andy Blanco, hitting .462 with seven home runs, nine doubles, 40 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases his senior year. Those numbers earned him a spot on the All-Dade County First Team.

The son of Stephan Planas and Ana Arteaga, Sheehan has a younger brother, Gavin, and is majoring in English.
