After suffering through back-to-back season-costing injuries during his freshman season, redshirt freshman Julian Santos has worked his way into the Miami lineup this season and will be another prospect for the SteepleCats outfield ranks this summer, joining two other Hurricane players in North Adams.

Santos has appeared in 24 games while making 11 starts this season in Miami, going 12-for-51 at the plate while posting a .235 batting average and scoring six runs. He has totaled four RBIs while belting three doubles and a triple and going 2-for-2 on the base paths. Santos registered just one at-bat as a freshman before losing his rookie year to injury.

A product of head coach Angel Herrera at Killian Senior High School in Miami, Santos played centerfield for the Cougars as a senior, batting .446 with 30 RBI, four homers and 30 stolen bases while scoring 40 runs. Was named First Team All-Miami-Dade County and earned an All-Region first team selection. Santos was a member of the FACA All-Star Team and was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year and MVP in 2009 and 2010.

The son of Raul and Lourdes Santos, Julian has an older brother, Raul Santos Jr., and he is related to Oscar Cartaya, Sr. who played for the Detroit Tigers organization. Another relative, Oscar Cartaya, Jr., played at the University of Miami. Santos is pursuing a degree in Sports Administration.
