After missing the entire 2011 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Rutgers right-handed pitcher/infielder Charlie Law – a 2008 MLB Draft selection by the Philadelphia Phillies – joins teammate Tyler Gebler in the Berkshires this summer, marking his second stint with North Adams after spending the 2009 season with the SteepleCats.

Hailing from Linwood, N.J., Law has rebounded nicely from his year-long absence from the game and has been a solid option for the Scarlet Knights from the bullpen while batting above .300 in 25 games – including 19 starts – at first base.

In 2009, was one win shy of the team lead with the SteepleCats, making seven starts and appearing in nine games while going 3-1 on the summer. He posted a 3.79 ERA while totaling 40 1/3 innings, striking out 47 and walking 23 for a North Adams team that went 25-16 overall.

With 11 appearances under his belt, Law owns a 6.35 ERA with a 1-3 record, but more importantly his three saves are tied for the most on a team that has gone 26-18 and is chasing a playoff spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. But Law has produced even more in the field, starting in 19 games and owning a .302 batting average toward the end of the regular season. He has seven doubles and two homers to his name so far while totaling 16 RBI and committing zero errors in the field.

The redshirt junior came to Rutgers in 2009 and appeared in 19 games during his rookie campaign, including eight starts. He struck out an impressive 31 batters in 33 1/3 innings before following that up with a 10-appearance season during his sophomore season before suffering a season-ending injury.
