Another South Beach native, Adrian English joins the SteepleCats looking to cement a spot in the middle infield this summer.

A versatile player who stepped into the lineup at Barry as a freshman, English played a position that he wasn’t accustomed to and put up great numbers in the process. He’s kept it going as a sophomore, hitting in the middle of the lineup and playing at either shortstop or second base. Toward the beginning of May, English is batting .280 in 41 games (40 starts) with 42 hits and 25 RBIs.

As a rookie season, he started in 55 games primarily at shortstop and hit mostly out of the leadoff spot finishing with a .330 average that was good for second on the team while also belting four home runs and 11 doubles. He scored 40 runs and drove in 26 RBIs, as well.

In high school, English was a four-year letterman at nearby Pace under coach Tom Duffin. He hit .450 for his career with 18 homers, 35 doubles, 90 runs, and 70 RBI and earned First-Team All-Dade County honors.

The son of Jose and Ana George, Adrian has a younger sister, Arianna.
