NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – After ripping a league-leading three home runs in the first four games of the season, Notre Dame freshman Conor Biggio has been tabbed the NECBL Player of the Week, earning the team’s first league honor in the first week of the 2012 campaign.

Biggio hit .429 for the week, starting off the season by hitting for the cycle in North Adams' opening-night, 6-0 win at Sanford and by homering again two days later as the SteepleCats downed Danbury 4-2. Finally, the left-handed hitting left fielder knocked his third long ball of the season late in Sunday’s 13-6 victory over Mystic.

Biggio now leads the league in home runs (3) while his six RBI are tied for second. The freshman boasts a solid .412 batting average, as well. More importantly, Biggio's offensive output has helped North Adams to an undefeated 4-0 start, its best four-game record since the 2010 season.

This spring, Biggio had nine RBI and seven steals in 15 starts for the Fighting Irish. At St. Thomas High School in Houston, Biggio helped lead his team to consecutive state titles.

The SteepleCats return to the diamond on Tuesday, June 12, when they travel to Montpelier, Vt., to take on the Vermont Mountaineers.
